Our speaker last Monday was André Lovatt from Auckland Airport.  Amongst the 800 projects he has to juggle over the next 15 years valued in excess of 28 billion dollars, he has to build a new International Terminal wing, rebuild the Domestic Terminal along-side the current International terminal and build the Northern runway.  It seemed a massively complex task, and we received insights into the many ways the Airport is changing its infrastructure to accommodate our future travel requirements.

This week Rotary International announced  Nigeria, as one of the three remaining Polio countries, has been declared Polio Free.  On 21st August, Nigeria reached the 3 year milestone of no reported cases.  The two remaining countries still to wipe out Polio are Afghanistan and Pakistan, who have had 133 cases in the last three years.  We are raising funds for "End Polio Now" on 1 November with collectors at Britomart Station.  Keep the date for your opportunity to volunteer for a hour or two.

Stories
This Weeks Speaker Is Andrew Lovatt.

Andrew is General Manager, Auckland Airport Development & Delivery, and  is responsible for leading the airport’s infrastructure development and delivery team, focusing on the implementation of Auckland Airport’s 30-year vision to build a world class airport. The plan involves an investment of some $2 billion in aeronautical infrastructure by 2022, making it one of the largest infrastructure programmes underway in New Zealand.

Thank you to all those that attended
Greetings from the Hadera Club of Israel

Dear President Craig Brown,

The President and members of the Rotary Club of Hadera, Israel send greetings to you, your club members and their families.

Each week our club selects a club for the weekly greeting. Our members then honor a toast of fellowship to that selected club.

On September 18th, 2019, we selected your club to commemorate the signing of the Electoral Bill being the first country in the world granting national voting rights to women on September 19th, 1893.

We extend an invitation to the members of your club that may visit Israel in the future to visit our club and attend one of our meetings.

We will be happy to hear from you and explore possible cooperation between our clubs on international projects.

Yours in Rotary,

PP David  Solomon

Rotary Spring into Spring Walk
Dear Craig Brown,
The countdown is on…….
Our save the date of Sunday 29th September is rapidly approaching, so a good time to send out the details for this event, so you have time to get your walking shoes organized, team outfits ready & for the sun to shine.
Our “Spring into Spring” Rotary walk is as follows:
Sunday 29th September - rain or shine
9am start at Cornwall Park Rotunda (the one by the café & close to carpark)
The park is approx. 5km long with no need for a map, as route will be laid out for you. Just need to follow the colourful windmills showing you where to turn. (Please note you can turn around at any time during walk & do at your own pace etc. It is not a race……)
Some points to note:
-          Cornwall Park don’t allow any type of fundraising, so please respect their wishes on this.
-          We are however allowed to do this ourselves, so a gold coin donation for the walk would be awesome, & proceeds going to Polio Plus.
-          Dress up in Rotary colours, whether it be your green Woman in Rotary colour, club colours/t-shirts. Feel free to add tutu’s or other Rotary bling.
-          Bring your friends & family as the more the merrier.
-          Remember daylight saving the night before…..9am is actually 8am…….
-          We are selling the “Woman in Rotary” green t-shirts. $10.00 each & proceeds going to Polio Plus. Please bring exact $ as we won’t have change.
This event is on our D9920 website events page:
